Deoxycytidine triphosphate (dCTP) is a nucleoside triphosphate that is used whenever DNA is synthesized, such as in the polymerase chain reaction. 125I dCTP may be used to produce cDNA transcripts of viral or mRNA.
Radioiodinated deoxycytidine triphosphate (125I-dCTP) is commonly used to make DNA probes via nick translation or terminal labeling for in situ hybridization with autoradiographic visualization, or for analysis of RNA using reverse transcriptase.
